1. Definition.

The electric carousel running in the indoor playground(Naughty Castle) is a small type of amusement ride designed for children. It is said strictly speaking an low-power amusement machine with only 4~6 seats rotating around a central vertical axis at low speed(5.5r/min). The most prominent feature of the equipment is its Soft Padding structure and limited size designed to offer the toddlers and children a dynamic indoor play experience that feels extremely safe both physically and psychologically.

2. Main Components.

The facility design is simplified into indoor soft playground and suitable for the interaction characteristic of children. The main components are chassis and central support structure welded from galvanized steel pipe. The power core is low-power electric motor (about 220v 400W), transferring the power through the reduction gear smoothly to the rotating gear and driving the upper platform rotating in a uniform speed. Several softplay mounts in the shape of small horses preferred by children are fixed to the platform. The start and stop of the whole equipment are controlled by the simple control switch.

3. Materials

The merry go round structure is designed aiming at the highest requirement for safety. The Soft Padding process is selected as the most advanced material process. The inner load-bearing frame is galvanized steel pipe and high strength wood panel. The frame is coated with the layer of EPE foam with high elasticity as the cushioning layer to absorb the impact and avoid the injury accident caused by children colliding to each other. The outermost layer is upholstered from the high quality eco-friendly PVC fabric or PU leather. The fabric is bright colored and easy cleaned. The fabric has extremely good abrasion resistance and tear strength. The product conforms to the safety standard for children's products. This multi-layer composite structure from inside to outside totally eliminates the exposed hard material from inside to outside and reaches the goal of overall soft protection.

4. Standard Play Procedure

The standard procedure for children to take the equipment is orderly. Although the merry go round is totally stationary, the guardian helps the children to choose the mount and sit steadily on it facing inward. All children sit on the mount before the operator turns on the control switch and drives the carousel to rotate slowly in a uniform speed along the central axis. During the pre-set and short running cycle, children only need to sit still and hold on and enjoy the experience of slow rotating. Children are not required to and forbidden to do any other action. At the end of the cycle, the equipment will automatically and smoothly stop. Children must wait until the equipment is totally stopped before getting down from the mount with the help of the guardian.

5. Safety Regulations

The operation of the merry go round shall follow the strict safety regulation to guarantee the comprehensive protection for children.

Intrinsic Safety by Design.

From the design concept, electricity used in the carousel should be safe voltage or safe voltage system should have effective insulation and leakage protection. The equipment's own volume with diameter ranging from 190cm to 280cm(250-300KG) would decrease the possibility of danger as well. The safety design of soft-packaging and absence of hard corner is its biggest advantage for children to avoid any danger contacting to all surface they can reach. Besides, there must be an emergency stop button installed in an obvious position to cut off electricity instantly in emergency.

On-site Management and Carousel's Behavior.

On-site management Staff should do daily inspection to make sure the soft-packaged outer layer of the equipment is not damaged, and the inner padding or frame is not exposed. Make sure all connecting parts are not loose.

The Merry go round capacity is specified, and must be strictly controlled. Children are forbidden to stand up or stick their body parts out of the safe area of the mount during the amusement ride running. Guardians should supervise outside of the operating area of the playground equipment, and observe the children's conditions to build a co-created safe space.
